During the Fall and Winter months of the year, North Toronto Christian School and its high school, The Yorkland School, uses 275 acres of wilderness property on beautiful Chandos Lake in the Kawarthas for studies in outdoor education. It exists to provide an opportunity for young people to appreciate what God has given them in the world of nature, to learn about themselves and others, and to discover how to function effectively in an unfamiliar environment. Camp Ke-Mon-Oya is nestled in a beautiful, northern setting with thick forests, groomed hiking trails, open fields and a large pristine lake. This year we will hold seven weeks of summer camp for our own students, and for others who would benefit from the experience.

Students will meet at our high school "The Yorkland School" (404/401 in Toronto) by 9:00 a.m. on Monday morning for transportation to the camp. The students will return to the school for pickup no later than 4:00 p.m. on Friday afternoon.
Research within our 700 student school family indicates that only a small percentage of parents send their children to any residential summer program and that the main reason is the cost. Since Christian school parents pay a significant tuition fee in after tax dollars for the education of their children throughout the year, many just feel that they cannot afford the relatively high cost of most summer camp programs. For that reason, we are prepared to subsidize the program significantly as a part of the overall ministry of our schools. The price has been set at $265 per camper per week. Each additional week is $245. Each additional family member is also $245. Day camp rate is $87 per week. The price includes transportation, insurance, educational materials, recreational equipment and food and lodging for the week. You won't find a better deal anywhere!
Students must be entering Grades 3 - 6 in Sept 2008 to apply for weeks 1-3, and entering Grades 7-10 in order to attend weeks 4-7. The senior staff are all qualified, practising teachers or senior high school or university students. They have many combined years of camping experience with a desire to demonstrate God's love in everyday activities. The cabin counsellors and program assistants are carefully selected and must demonstrate maturity, leadership skills, a love for young people and a dedication to Jesus Christ. They supervise the campers, lead cabin activities and teach various skills. There will be lots of supervision, instruction and inspiration.
